From starter homes to large family detached houses, complex city centre apartment schemes to major mixed-use developments that combine homes, offices, retail and leisure, Redrow has proved its pedigree over and over again.

Redrow built over four thousand new homes in England, Scotland and Wales and mixed-use developments continued last year with major schemes in Manchester, Bristol, Chorley and St David's Park, near Chester.

The quality of homes has been recognised in numerous industry awards we are at the forefront of new initiatives to promote sustainable development and improve the accuracy, speed and efficiency of the house-building process.

History
Redrow was established as a small civil engineering company in North Wales in 1974 and moved into private house building in the early 1980s. The company has grown steadily through a mixture of acquisition and organic growth. Major gains came with the acquisition in 1987 of Whelmar Homes, now Redrow Homes (Lancashire), followed in 1993 with the purchase of Costain Homes in the South East and Tay Homes in 2002, which particularly strengthened Redrow's Yorkshire and Scotland operations. At the same time, Redrow has developed new operations in different parts of the UK, so that today the company has 13 housing companies offering a wide product range across most of England, Wales and central Scotland.

Redrow Commercial was established in 1987 and has successfully completed a large number of significant schemes throughout England and Wales. Examples include St David's Park, near Chester, Lower Grosvenor Place in Victoria London, Llanelli shopping centre, Windsor office park and, more recently, the 400-acre mixed use Buckshaw Village, in Chorley, and the Western Approach distribution park at Severnside, near Bristol. The commercial arm was embedded within the overall Group structure in 2004 and provides an improved focus on and delivery of mixed use developments.

People

Redrow directly employs around 1,300 people and is committed to retaining existing staff and attracting future employees of the highest calibre. We have always invested substantial sums in training apprentices, providing opportunities for young graduates, and developing the managerial skills of our more senior staff. With the opening in 2003 of a new national training centre in Tamworth, at a capital cost of £500,000, we have demonstrated our commitment to increasing the knowledge, skills and experience of all our employees through a mix of vocational and more "holistic" training for their own personal development.
